CTU support funding
To assess the applications the NIHR Clinical Trials Units (CTU) Support Funding receives, a number of people are involved to ensure that the application selection is carried out in a clear and fair way, embracing the latest expertise, knowledge and opinion. This is done through the NIHR CTU Standing Advisory Committee, which considers support funding applications and reviews the on-going work of the funded CTUs.
Professor Tom Walley CBE, is the Chair of the NIHR Clinical Trials Unit Support Funding Standing Advisory Committee.
He is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at Liverpool University and also works as a Consultant Physician at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He formerly headed a research group at Liverpool University, focusing on drug prescribing, pharmaceutical policy, and clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.
In June 2008, he was awarded a CBE by the Queen for his services to medicine.
