NIHR Central Commissioning Facility

The CCF is managed by LGC's Grant Management Group from Twickenham, part of LGC's Government services.

Research 

The CCF manages the following research funding programmes:

It manages the Research for Innovation, Creativity and Risk (RISC) programme, which is now closed to new applications.
 
The CCF also manages the Research Design Service (RDS) to support applicants and the following research schools, centre and units:

Faculty and infrastructure

The CCF supports the NIHR in providing information on recruitment to clinical trials, including commercial trials.

The CCF also manages the Senior Investigator awards and competitions for the NIHR Faculty and, for the NIHR Infrastructure, the following initiatives:

The NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) is hosted by CCF and based in London. NOCRI works closely with the NIHR infrastructure managed by CCF. 

Patient and Public Involvement 

PPI is core to CCF’s review and commissioning process.
 
Engaging patients and members of the public in research leads to treatments that meet their needs, is more reliable and more likely to be put into practice. Find out more about how to get involved in research.

Policy Research Programme

The CCF manages the Department of Health's Policy Research Programme (PRP). PRP-funded researchers are members of the NIHR Faculty and are eligible to apply for Senior Investigator status.

Health Innovation Challenge Fund

The CCF manages the Health Innovation Challenge Fund (HICF) - a joint funding scheme between the Department of Health and the Wellcome Trust. HICF-funded researchers are eligible to apply for Senior Investigator status.
