INVOLVE 2012 conference, Putting people first in research - call for presentations

INVOLVE are inviting presentations on public involvement in health and social care research that will encourage critical thinking and discussion for their conference on 13-14 November 2012 at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham. Presentations may take the form of posters, workshops, papers, film, sound recordings, performances, speed sessions and other approaches. The closing date for applying to do a presentation is 26 March 2012.

NIHR & NIAA Study Day for Trainees
Royal College of Anaesthetists, Churchill House, London, 14 March 2012

The NIHR and National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) joint Study Day for Trainees will provide information on research funding schemes and industry engagement in research, as well as workshops on developing research projects and protocols for pre-clinical research and clinical trials.
The event will also offer the opportunity to display a poster - the winner will receive the NIAA President's Prize for Outstanding Achievement.

The NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) and HealthTech & Medicines KTN is holding a series of regional workshops to support the medical technology industry. With speakers from the NIHR, industry, ABHI, Department of Health and NICE, each event provides companies with a “route map” to successfully translate ideas into commercial products. To support the uptake of new technology into clinical practice, these events will highlight the importance of understanding unmet clinical need and the generation of appropriate clinical evidence for medical technologies.

NIHR Invention for Innovation (i4i) Life Sciences Accelerator programme

Tuesday 6 March to Wednesday 7 March 2012.

The i4i Life Sciences Accelerator programme, a residential course for SMEs and researchers making a business case for early-stage medical devices, has been developed by the NIHR and experienced Medtech industry experts. The programme aims to help small and/or early-stage companies and researchers from academic and clinical backgrounds to improve their chances of success when applying for funds or investment, by providing specialist advice on how to construct well-crafted applications and business plans.
