Honorary Membership of the NIHR Faculty

The Honorary Membership category was originally created for individuals who did not receive NIHR funding but who were making major contributions to the work of the NIHR. Members were appointed by invitation in much the same way as a University would award Honorary titles such as Honorary Doctorates.

This was a good way of engaging the research community in the NIHR Faculty during the initial stages of establishing the NIHR. However, the NIHR has evolved and new members are no longer being appointed to this category.
