Research CentresNew NIHR Research Centres, have been established within our leading NHS and university partnerships to drive progress in:
- translating innovation in biomedicine into NHS practice
- quality and safety standards in the NHS
Funding is provided on a five-year cycle and relates directly to the quality, scale and nature of research activity. Funds have been awarded through competition and peer review.
Biomedical Research CentresBiomedical Research Centres will drive innovation in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of ill-health and to translate advances in biomedical research into NHS practice.
NIHR Research Centres for NHS Patient Safety & Service QualityAs centres of international expertise, the NIHR Research Centres for NHS Patient Safety & Service Quality will bring together NHS professionals with a wide range of research disciplines. Their focus is to investigate ways to improve the safety, quality and effectiveness of the services the NHS provides to its patients and the public.
