The Chief Medical Officer officially opened a new £2.45 million, NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, on the 14 December, which promises to deliver tomorrow's treatments for today's patients. Professor Dame Sally Davies met patients and researchers before officially opening the CRF, which will enable researchers to work in collaboration with industry around personalised medicine, in particular around early detection of infection in intensive care patients.
