Researchers at the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR BRC) for Mental Health have found that the prevalence of common mental health problems in South East (S.E.) London was two times higher than the national prevalence. Illicit drug use in S.E. London was twice as high as the national average, while depression was four times more common than the national average, and was the most common mental disorder diagnosed. The study compared data on symptoms of common mental health disorders from the South East London Community Health Survey with the 2007 English Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey.
