Three NIHR Senior Investigators are recognised in the 2013 New Year Honours.
- Professor Simon Charles Wessely, Professor of Epidemiological and Liaison Psychiatry at King's College London, was awarded a Knighthood for services to Military Heathcare and to Psychological Medicine.

- Professor David Millar Clark, National Clinical Adviser at the Department of Health and Professor of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to Mental Health.

- Professor Gary Ashley Ford, Director of the NIHR Stroke Research Network, and Clinical Director at Newcastle University, was awarded a CBE for services o research in Stroke Medicine.
