How can the NHS payment system do more for patients? Discussion Paper

News Content

From April 2013 NHS England and Monitor jointly assumed responsibility for the payment system for NHS services. They are now jointly seeking stakeholder views on their first National Tariff for 2014/15 and for a statutory consultation on the Tariff to take place in autumn 2013 which will discuss the aims of and approach for setting the National Tariff.

The National Tariff and appropriate local flexibilities can incentivise research and innovation within the NHS, and this consultation presents an opportunity for all those with an interest to express views on how the tariff system can work to best support research and innovation in driving up the quality of NHS services.
