This edition of the NIHR CLAHRC Community e-newsletter looks at the work the CLAHRCs are doing on co-morbidities. It is estimated that there are 15.4 million people with long term conditions in the UK. Many of these people suffer from a number of conditions, described as co-morbidities. A growing challenge for the health care system is how to provide care that treats the whole person and not a single disease.  Indeed, delivering person-centred and co-ordinated care and support is a priority for the NHS with several high profile initiatives recently launched to test out new approaches such as the integrated care pilots.
