Professor Roshan das Nair
Roshan is Chair of the East Midlands Regional Advisory Committee for the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit (RfPB) Programme.
Roshan is Professor of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology in the Division of Psychiatry & Applied Psychology, School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham and the Institute of Mental Health. He is also a Research & Innovation Lead and an Honorary Consultant Clinical Psychologist with Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, and a Governor at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. He is an honorary visiting professor at La Trobe University (Melbourne, Australia).
Roshan completed his clinical training at the National Institute for Mental Health and Neurosciences in India, and a PhD from the University of Nottingham. Prior to being awarded a personal chair at the University of Nottingham, he worked full-time in the NHS. He has also worked as a Lecturer at the University of Zambia.
Roshan researches the psychological and neuropsychological aspects of multiple sclerosis, stroke, and traumatic brain injuries. His expertise is in the design and conduct of clinical trials of complex interventions. He has over 100 publications, has supervised over 50 doctoral students, and has been awarded research grants of over ˜£13 million. He currently leads an NIHR Programme Grant for Applied Research on Neuropsychological Evaluation and Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis (NEuRoMS).
Roshan has had a long-standing association with the NIHR, having served on the Health Services and Delivery Research funding board, Health Technology Assessment End of Life Care and Add-on Studies Board, and RfPB East Midlands Advisory Committee. He is also an NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Programme mentor.
