Invention for Innovation (i4i)

Our Programme Director is Martin Hunt.

Selection panel members review all stage 1 and stage 2 applications and make funding decisions based on the quality of applications with support from expert peer reviewers.

The panels are multidisciplinary, comprising academic, clinical and commercial expertise.

Each panel is made up of 12-18 people and typically consists of the following members:

  •          The Selection Panel Chair
  •          The Selection Panel Deputy Chair
  •          Individuals with a wide range of skills and experience of clinical or commercial product development
  •          Patient and public involvement members

We have three panels, two for our Product Development Awards (Selection Panel A and Selection Panel B) and a Challenge Awards Selection Panel. A set of guidelines (see downloads on the right) have been produced to provide panel members with background information about the programme and the procedures that need to be followed.

How to become a Selection Panel member

We are accepting applications to join an i4i Selection Panel on an ongoing basis. These prestigious appointments offer the chance to take part in and gain experience of making funding recommendations to the NIHR. For more information, please download the full i4i Programme Panel Member Invitation.
