NIHR Dissemination Centre
The NIHR Dissemination Centre (NIHR DC) aims to put research evidence at the heart of decisions made in the NHS, public health and social care.
It helps clinicians, commissioners and patients to make evidence-based decisions about which treatments and practices are most effective and offer the best use of resources.
The centre critically appraises the latest health research, from both within the NIHR and other research organisations, to identify the most reliable, relevant and significant findings.
Tara Lamont, Director NIHRDC
Tara was appointed Director from October 2018, having helped to set up the Centre as Deputy Director over the last four years. Tara has worked for over twenty years in health services research, audit and patient safety. She acted as scientific advisor to an NIHR research programme focused on health services delivery and set up a new national patient safety function to deliver evidence on clinical risks to practitioners. She is an editor for the NIHR Journals Library, member of the HSRUK Board and writes widely in a personal capacity on health services research topics, including recent BMJ Group blogs.
Rob Cook, Deputy Director, Bazian
Rob has over 20 years’ experience in evidence based medicine and guideline development. Rob worked first in General practice and then as medical director for the New Zealand Guidelines Group, where he managed the development of cardiovascular guidelines. At Bazian he applies evidence to knowledge management systems and quality processes for clinical and policy decision makers. Rob also sits on an advisory board for Cedar, an NHS-academic evaluation centre for health technologies, devices and tests. He is a member of a NIHR HTA Topic Identification advisory panel, identifying important research gaps in mental, psychological and occupational health, for the NHS.
