Senior Clinical and Practitioner Research Award
The Senior Clinical and Practitioner Research Award (SCPRA) funds postdoctoral researchers to engage in professional development activities.
The award will offer you the flexibility to undertake a range of activities.
The award provides funding for 20-50% protected time within your current role for a maximum of 5 years. This covers:
- your salary
- a contribution towards training and development
This funding will not cover a substantive research project.

- leading research projects or grants
- preparing future applications for research funding
- undertaking strategic leadership around research delivery
- undertaking research relevant training and development
Who can apply
You can apply if you are a senior clinician or a senior practitioner who holds a PhD or an MD. We aim to support underrepresented professions, so we will prioritise funding applications from these specialisms:
- nurses and midwives
- allied health professionals
- healthcare Scientists
- pharmacists
- general practitioners
- dentists
- applicants from other underrepresented groups and backgrounds, defined by the applicant within the application form

Funding rounds open annually in the Autumn.
