Plain English Summary

King's College London hosts a British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence  (see ). One of the purposes of our Centre is to develop new ways of finding patients who have a disease known as heart failure. Heart failure is difficult to find because it causes symptoms such as tiredness and breathlessness which are very common in everyday life.  We hope to find new patients with heart failure by looking for hidden clues. These clues may involve finding traces of substances in the blood stream by developing new blood tests. We can also sieve through the electronic patient records looking for hidden patterns in existing tests that show a patient's heart may be failing.
