Primary Care Incubator
The NIHR Incubator for Primary Care was one of the first NIHR incubators launched in October 2018. The incubator is building on the capacity development initiatives established by both the School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) and NIHR Fellowships to allow increased opportunity, capacity and retention of interdisciplinary clinical and allied academics in primary care.
The incubator aims to stimulate and inspire those working in the field of primary care to pursue academic careers; and to enhance the opportunities for those pursuing academic careers through better sign-posting to career support activities including mentorship and leadership programmes and share best practice on support programmes.
This will be achieved by:
- setting up a networked community of primary care researchers
- development of a series of engagement events for the community
- collation of funding opportunities and resources and national networks to highlight the national training strategy for academic primary care careers
- identification of opportunities for greater connections/collaborations between training programmes to enhance career progression opportunities.
