Our annual cancer early phase educational event will be held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday 24 January 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm.
This event is open to doctors, research nurses, research radiographers, researchers, research staff, clinical trials staff, patient and public involvement representatives, and anyone else with an interest in early phase cancer trials. All NIHR staff and colleagues from other organisations are welcome.
During the morning, we’ll be identifying the key features of early phase cancer trials and how they differ from late phase, in terms of set-up and delivery. There will also be opportunities to learn how to successfully deliver early phase cancer trials, identify the key challenges associated with them, and plan ways to overcome these obstacles.
Planned session topics include:
- What are early phase trials? key features of different types of early phase trials
- A patients’ clinical trial journey, barriers to participation and novel interventions to overcome them
- Patient expectations and the consent process for early phase trials
- Delivery of early phase trials – research nurse/manager perspectives
- NIHR / Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres (ECMC) interface
