Workshop: Compassionate leadership

Date

12 October 2021

Time

09:30 to 12:30

Location

Online

Leaders who nurture a culture of compassion and inclusivity will ensure all voices are heard, to build motivation and instil a sense of collective mission in working together to deliver great research.

Join our three-hour virtual workshop to learn more about compassionate leadership and how to embody compassion in the way you lead others. The session will cover:

  • the principles of compassionate leadership, based on the work of Professor Michael West from The King’s Fund
  • the benefits of leading with compassion and inclusivity within teams and other working relationships
  • the development of your own action plan for developing a more compassionate leadership style

The virtual workshop is interactive and practical, encouraging you to engage with fellow participants, try new techniques and reflect on your learning. Some pre-programme preparation and post-programme work (up to 2 hours each) will be required.

To indicate your interest in participating in this virtual workshop please complete the expression of interest form no later than 12 noon on Tuesday 28 September. If selected, you will receive confirmation of your place by close of business on Wednesday 6 October.

The workshop is open to NIHR research leaders and NIHR Academy Members.  It is intended for those who may be developing a leadership career, or for experienced leaders who wish to reflect on their practice and explore new approaches to leadership.

Places are limited to 16 participants. As we expect a high level of demand, places will be allocated to ensure a fair representation across the NIHR leaders community and prioritising those who have not participated in the programme previously.
