Application dates: 01 January 2018 to 01 January 2020
Cochrane Review Authors, supported by an NIHR-funded Cochrane Review Group (CRG), can apply to have their reviews published under Gold open access, meaning that they are instantly and freely open for all users to access on the Cochrane Library from the date of publication. If you feel that your review meets the eligibility criteria, please download and complete the application form from the "apply" button below, then email the completed form to SRPinfo@nihr.ac.uk.
There is no deadline, applications will be reviewed as and when received.
Currently, Cochrane protocols and reviews (including updates) published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) are made freely available in the CDSR 12 months after publication. This happens automatically, and free of charge. After the 12 month embargo reviews can then be deposited elsewhere, such as Europe PubMedCentral (PMC). This is called ‘Green open access’.
Although Green open access is the standard model, authors also have the option to request ‘Gold open access’. Gold open access is the immediate and full open access publication of a review, upon payment of an APC, including release of a creative commons license.
Applications will be reviewed on an ad-hoc basis when submitted, by the Programme Director, and will be triaged against the following criteria:
If you have any questions about the scheme, please email SRPinfo@nihr.ac.uk with ‘Cochrane Gold Open Access Scheme’ in the subject/title field.
