Application dates: 04 October 2018 to 28 November 2018
Applications are invited for Programme Development Grant funding. Programme Development Grants are designed to increase the rate and number of successful applications for a full Programme Grant by supporting the completion of the necessary preparatory work to suitably position the research team to submit a competitive Programme Grant application. Individual awards are for a maximum of £100k over a period of six to eighteen months. The amount of funding awarded, however, is determined by the scale and nature of the research activity to be conducted.
The NIHR programmes currently have the following two highlight notices and Themed call open:
Complex Health and Care Needs in Older People. This highlight notice indicates the continuing interest of NIHR in receiving research proposals in this area, and particularly those addressing Frailty; Transitions in care, service delivery and models of care; Medicines management/polypharmacy; Promoting healthy ageing/preventing ill health; Patient-centred decision making.
Brain Tumours. This highlight notice indicates the continuing interest of NIHR in receiving research proposals in this area, and it encourages collaborative applications that demonstrate how they build on recent initiatives and investment in the area made by the NIHR, the MRC and other research funders.
Promotion of good mental health and the prevention or treatment of mental ill health across the whole life course. Proposals are invited for clinical and applied health research that evaluate healthcare interventions, health services, social care or public health measures operating at either the individual, or the population level. Issues of particular interest include proposals that utilise new digital health technologies or investigate their effects.
For further details of these highlight notices and themed call, please see https://www.nihr.ac.uk/themedcalls
Please note that the PDG researcher led call is open to all relevant research areas, and does not just include these highlight notices/themed call. If you are responding to the highlight notices, please indicate this in the application form in Section 9, Question 1 ‘What is the problem being addressed?’.
The submission deadline for applications is 1pm on 28 November 2018.
*This document is to be used as a guide and to assist with completion of the online application form only. Please do not try to use this as an application form. You must apply using the online form available through the above RMS link, available when calls are open.
Applications to PGfAR are made with the support of an NHS body and other providers of NHS services in England. If an application is successful, a contract will be placed with that organisation for delivery of the research and all funds for the research will be paid to the NHS organisation or other provider of NHS services.
