Research call for evidence review facility to support national policy development and evaluation

Application dates: 08 January 2019 to 12 February 2019

The National Institute of Health Research Policy Research Programme (NIHR PRP) supports the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care (DHSC), Ministers and Senior Officials in DHSC and its Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs). The NIHR PRP commissions and manages leading edge research to inform national policy decisions across the health, care and public health systems. It provides robust evidence to inform policy development and implementation in timely and accessible ways, including assessment of potential impact and cost-effectiveness.

Ensuring access to intelligence from existing evidence is a key element. The Department has benefited from a Reviews Facility for many years and the importance of evidence synthesis is increasingly valuable for policy development. Through this call, the NIHR PRP is seeking to continue and boost capacity for evidence synthesis to support policy.
