Scaling-up of evidence-based interventions at the population level for the prevention and/or management of hypertension and/or diabetes

The call will support research associated with the scale-up of interventions for the prevention, and/or detection and management of hypertension and/or diabetes in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Collectively, the MRC and NIHR will invest up to £6 million for this initiative. This amount is expected to fund several awards.

Research to improve adolescent health in LMIC settings

Partners: MRC, DFID, ESRC
Closing date: 18 September 2018

Third call: This call will support world-class and cutting-edge research which addresses the specific health needs of adolescents in low and middle income countries (LMICs). Together the funders have agreed to commit up to £4 million to this scheme, with the possibility of extra funds dependent on quality. Applications are particularly encouraged from principal investigators (PI) based at organisations in LMICs, as highlighted in the DAC List of ODA Recipients, as well as from eligible research organisations based in the UK.

Joint Global Health Trials - call 9

Closing date: 13 September 2018

Funding of up to up to £20 million is available for the ninth call of the joint global health trials partnership. This scheme provides funding for the best proposals for global health trials which will provide evidence of the best, and most appropriate interventions to improve health in low and middle income countries.
