We understand that many people will be prioritising NHS work and supporting COVID 19 research during the current pandemic. It is NIHR policy that these should always be the priority as reinforced by our April Programme Director’s message. It is also NIHR policy to keep the future research pipeline healthy and to support the research community. The HTA Programme is therefore advertising the following topics for stage 1 applications with a 16 week preparation period and deadline of 6 January 2021 unless otherwise stated. Please also note that these first stage applications do not need to contain a large amount of detail and that we only ask for estimates of costs at this stage.

The Health Technology Assessment Programme is accepting stage 1 applications to their commissioned workstream for this broad brief topic.

Applications received by the advertised closing date will be considered at a first-stage funding committee meeting, and successful applicants will then be invited to submit a stage 2 application. Applicants will have eight weeks to complete and submit their stage 2 application form, which will then be considered at the following HTA funding committee meeting. All primary research projects are expected to establish a programme appointed Study Steering Committee and it is important that you read the TSC/SSC Guidance before completing your application. Costs incurred by this committee should be included in the budget as appropriate.
