The Health and Social Care Delivery Research (HSDR) Programme is accepting Stage 1 applications to this funding opportunity. The programme is interested in receiving applications to meet recommendations in research identified in NICE guidance that has been published or updated during the last 5 years.
Proposals must be within the remit of the HSDR Programme and the primary outcome measure must be health related. (This call is also open in the Public Health Research (PHR), Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME), and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) programmes for proposals which fall within the remit of those programmes - applicants should apply directly to the relevant programme).
NICE has recently been working to identify research needs with a particular focus on health inequalities and has identified the following area where more research is needed. Through the NICE rolling call, the HSDR Programme would welcome applications addressing research recommendation number 5 from the following NICE Guidance Depression in adults: treatment and management (NG222), regarding evaluation of the most effective and cost effective methods to promote increased access to, and uptake of, treatments for people who are under-represented in current services.
This could include evaluation of specific models of service delivery, service developments or changes, such as methods designed to remove barriers to access, which are specifically designed to promote access to adults aged 18 years and older, identified with or at risk of depression from the following vulnerable groups:
- ethnic minority groups
- older adults
- LGBTQ groups
- men
- people with disabilities
Please note that applicants are welcome to submit an application which addresses any NICE research recommendation from the past 5 years, and are not limited to NG222 for this round.
