Giving the Gift of Research focus of new video

Date: 19 December 2017

A new YouTube video featuring patients, Patient Research Ambassadors and research staff has been released by the Clinical Research Network Yorkshire and Humber, on the theme of Giving the Gift of Research.

The clip, which runs for just under two minutes, highlights the value of taking part in research and shows how patients have contributed to some of the network’s achievements in 2017. It also looks ahead to 2018 and encourages more people to get involved in research.

During the video, one research participant, Ian Thompson, says: “I went to my doctor and told her I was part of the trial and she said: ‘You are a hero!’ And it was one of the best things I’ve ever done.”

CRN Yorkshire and Humber Chief Operating Officer Amanda Tortice said: “We really value the efforts of both patients and staff in getting the message out there about taking part in research.

“More than 70,000 people took part in research over the last financial year in Yorkshire and Humber and we hope that more will have the opportunity to do so in 2018.”
