Diabetes event in Bristol

Local World Diabetes Day information evening a great success

Date: 21 November 2017

For World Diabetes Day the North Bristol Diabetes Research Team organised an education evening for those affected by all types of diabetes. The event included talks on the latest research in type 1 and type 2 diabetes, new research opportunities, activity and lifestyle advice, dietary help and advice and showcased new technologies. There were a total of 13 trade stands, including the Libre, Active Choices and Eye Screening Team.

Abby Hookey, Diabetes Research Technician, says: ‘It was a fantastic turn out with about 100 people attending. Everyone who came engaged with speakers and trade stands in order to get the best out of the evening. Feedback from patients was extremely positive - they say that they would like two events a year. We are grateful for those who agreed to speak at the event including Professor Colin Dayan and Dr Sue Taylor who kindly lead the meeting and our thanks to all the trade stands and other speakers who attended. '
