NIHR CRN Cancer Industry Event - The Current Research Landscape for Cancer in the UK. 24 October 2019, London
The NIHR CRN Cancer Leadership Team are excited to announce a forthcoming event designed to showcase both the world class cancer research landscape in the UK, and also the direction of travel as we look to the future and explore some of the cutting edge innovations on the horizon.
To support this, our cancer specialty team are asking Network colleagues to share information about this event with industry representatives from all life sciences sectors (e.g. pharmaceutical/medical device companies/CROs) and clinical investigators.
This event will be a unique opportunity for industry representatives to engage directly with some of the NHS's most prominent cancer key opinion leaders working across a range of areas, from technological advancements in molecular radiotherapy, to driving innovation in community based research.
There will be a focus on the future of cancer clinical trials, illustrating how the NIHR Study Support Services is helping to drive forward the successful delivery of pioneering research.
The increasing role and impact of patient engagement in cancer research will also be discussed, demonstrating how an involvement of patient voice from an early stage can lead directly to increased recruitment and retention.
With an engaging agenda, this event will create a forum for company representatives, cancer clinicians and active researchers to exchange ideas and help shape the delivery of both the current and future clinical trials being delivered across the cancer pathway in the UK.
Some of the key topics that will be discussed by the NIHR CRN Cancer National Specialty Leads include:
- Late Phase Research (Pippa Corrie)
- Early Phase Research (Sarah Danson)
- Children and Young People (Amos Burke)
- Supportive Care, Community and Hospice Research (Sam Ahmedzai)
- Molecular Radiotherapy (Jon Wadsley)
Other confirmed speakers thus far include Jonathan Sheffield, NIHR CRN CEO, who will be opening proceedings and Matt Seymour, head of the NIHR CRN Cancer Leadership Team, who will be discussing cancer research in the NHS, both present and future.
This event will be taking place on the 24th October 2019 at BMA House, London. Further details, including an agenda and free registration, can be found at the following Eventbrite link:
Please note that the target audience for this event is specifically industry representatives and priority will be given to delegates from companies and CROs.
