NIHR develops interactive learning package to support embedding research in the NHS

Published: 02 March 2020

A new package of interactive learning resources is now available to support research delivery professionals in promoting research to colleagues across the NHS.

These resources have been developed over the last two years, to support and inspire research delivery staff in their pledge to embed research in innovative ways across their organisation.

The ‘Engaging with your local NHS’ package sits on NIHR Learn, the NIHR online Learning Management platform, used to deliver its accredited learning programmes.

Roger Steel, NHS Engagement Programme Manager who has strategically led this work says:

"We’re very excited about the ‘Engaging your NHS learning community’ concept because it gives healthcare professionals the opportunity to share experience, expertise and demonstrates a willingness to raise the bar to find new ways of embedding research across the country.

“What is clear from starting to analyse the results of the recently conducted NIHR research delivery staff survey, is the tremendous tenacity and commitment to making research happen in an often challenging NHS environment. The space on NIHR Learn will provide access to examples of successful practice and ways to promote and engage with research, but you’ll also find other useful tools such as expert blogs and a community forum. It is through the forum that we can connect up and support each other in moving forward with our goal.”

The community forum will host a monthly programme of discussion topics and expert blogs starting this month, so keep an eye out for new content by following the Twitter hashtag, #whywedoresearch.
