Opportunity to talk to healthcare staff about NHS research

Visitors to hospitals in Thames Valley can learn about how they can get involved in NHS research trials on Friday 18 May and Monday 21 May.

Research staff will be on hand to talk about how to get involved to mark International Clinical Trials Day on Sunday 20 May.

They will be at:

Berkshire:

  • Friday 18 May, 10am to 1pm, Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading main entrance.

Milton Keynes:

  • Monday 21 May, 10am to 3pm, Milton Keynes University Hospital main entrance.

Oxfordshire:

  • Friday 18 May, 9am to 3pm at Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Headington, Oxford main entrance.
  • Friday 18 May, 9am to 3pm, Cancer and Haematology Centre, Churchill Hospital, Oxford main entrance.
  • Friday 18 May, 9am to 3pm, Children’s Hospital entrance, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford.
  • Friday 18 May at Horton General Hospital, Banbury main entrance.

International Clinical Trials Day is held every 20 May to celebrate the anniversary of the first clinical trial by James Lind in 1747 into the causes of scurvy on board the HMS Salisbury.

Participating in health research helps develop new treatments, improve the NHS and save lives. Patients are encouraged to ask their doctor about research opportunities and view trials seeking volunteers at The UK Clinical Trials Gateway at www.ukctg.nihr.ac.uk.
