Support and resources for trainees
In addition to the awards themselves, the NIHR also provides a range of leadership and mentoring programmes to complement its training programmes, regular networking opportunities, bespoke workshops and events and personal advice and guidance on funding opportunities. Details of opportunities for NIHR trainees follow:
- Leadership programme for trainees
This programme is designed for the next generation of researchers; who are beginning to make a significant contribution to their field, and who recognise that they will not be able to achieve what they hope for in health research and make a real impact without increased leadership and management capability.
Some training awards are complemented by specific mentoring programmes, such as the ICA Mentorship scheme. Trainees should contact their relevant Programme Manager for more details.
The NIHR Trainees Coordinating Centre hosts an annual Trainee Meeting for the awards it manages. Other regular events for trainees include The NIHR Infrastructure Training Camp. We also provide an opportunity for trainees to run their own workshops.
Trainees with awards managed by the NIHR Trainees Coordinating Centre can find more useful information in the Trainee Information Pack, trainees based in the infrastructure can find more support and resources here.
