NIHR Clinician Scientist Award Round 18

The NIHR Clinician Scientist Award offers up to 5 years funding to undertake focused training and development in order to develop specific skills that will enable a transition from basic research into clinical research or from clinical research into translational and applied research.

Application Process:

The NIHR Academy uses an adapted version of the NIHR Standard Application Form (SAF), and has introduced a 2-stage application process. The stage 1 form needs to be submitted by the deadline given and those applicants who are shortlisted for interview will need to complete a stage 2 form in advance of attending for interview.

Awards of NIHR-CS will be made based on open competition.

If you are successful in being selected for interview, you will be invited to Leeds and interviewed by a panel of experts.

Your application must have been submitted by the deadline and any signatories must have approved your application by this time using the ARAMIS online application system.

All components of your application including supporting documents (i.e. references, CTU support letter) must be submitted by the deadline. No additional supporting documents will be accepted after the deadline. Please give yourself sufficient time to obtain your signatory’s approval before the deadline. No exceptions will be made.

Research Design Service

The NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) supports researchers to develop and design high quality research proposals for submission to NIHR and other national, peer-reviewed funding competitions for applied health or social care research.

The Research Design Service provides expert advice to researchers on all aspects of preparing grant applications for applied health research in health and social care, including statistics, quantitative and qualitative research techniques, clinical trials, evidence synthesis, health economics, epidemiology, patient and public involvement, ethics and governance.
