The NIHR invests over £1 billion a year into health and care research
We ensure that information about the research we fund is available to patients, carers, service users and the public, so they can use our research to inform their care or that of their family and friends.
There are a number of ways you can find out about what research we have funded in the conditions and topics that are of interest to you, as well as what our research has found.
NIHR Funding and Awards
We publish information about all the research projects, people and organisations we fund on the NIHR Funding and Awards website. This website includes information about active NIHR research and research that is complete.
The website provides plain English and technical summaries of the research, and links to the research findings if the study is complete.
NIHR Journals Library
We are the first health research funder to publish comprehensive accounts of our research in our own publicly and permanently available journals.
The NIHR Journals Library has five journals that publish full findings of NIHR-funded research. These journals, which are free to access, include summaries of the research in plain English.
The research in these journals has been reviewed by other experts in the field.
NIHR Evidence publishes high quality summaries of findings from research funded by the NIHR and other organisations. The summaries include information on the implications of the research for people’s health and care.
You can search NIHR Evidence for summaries of individual pieces of research (Alerts) or summaries of several pieces of research on the same topic (Collections and Themed Reviews).
NIHR Open Data
We publish detailed data about our funding of health and care research using an open platform called NIHR Open Data. Anyone can view and use the data under the terms of the open licence.
