Professor Diana Baralle

Professor Diana Baralle represents the NIHR Research Professors on the NIHR Strategy Board.

Diana is a Professor in Genomic Medicine and Consultant Clinical Geneticist at University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. She completed her medical training at University College, University of London which included an Intercalated BSc in Genetics.

Diana completed an MD as an Action Medical Research Training Fellow whilst at the University of Cambridge, and was subsequently awarded a Clinical Senior Lectureship by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. She is an NIHR Research Professor and genetics lead for the NIHR's Clinical Research Network in Wessex.

Diana is Head of the Human Genetics and Genomics theme and Deputy Head of School Human Development and Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton. Her translational research finds new causes for disease, improves genomic diagnostic testing, and the understanding of disease mechanisms.
