Dr Cat Chatfield

Dr Cat Chatfield is Editor in Chief of the NIHR Journals Library. She is also Director of Health Services Research UK, a self-supporting membership organisation which convenes creators and users of health services and social care research.
Cat has been involved in editorial work for many years, most recently as Head of Education for The BMJ where she also co-led The BMJ’s work on doctor wellbeing during the pandemic. She set up the Research Integrity team across The BMJ’s portfolio of journals and was quality improvement editor for The BMJ, leading the creation of a series of articles on the science of improvement in collaboration with the Health Foundation. She was also interim Editor in Chief for the journal BMJ Open Quality.
Cat trained as a doctor in Brighton and London, was a Darzi clinical leadership fellow, and practiced as a GP before moving to full time editorial work.
