Dr Clare Morgan is responsible for national oversight of the NIHR CRN research portfolio, including commercial and non-commercial research across all specialties and providers of health and social care. Working closely with funders, regulators, providers and commissioners, the Directorate is responsible for setting and evolving policy strategy and initiatives associated with improving efficient delivery of research, from study funding, through set up to closure.
Clare spent 2018 on secondment at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, leading on projects across the Trust and wider Health system; she also led on Research & Innovation for the South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw Integrated Care System. Clare joined NIHR CRN in 2007, having established the NIHR Dementias and Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Network. She also brings significant experience of commercial and academic clinical research to the role, gained through positions in contract research organisations, the pharmaceutical industry and within universities.
