Dr Monika Preuss leads on genomics science policy for the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
Monika's remit includes delivery of the NIHR-funded 100,000 Genomes Project, sustainable policy on genetics and insurance, gene editing, regenerative medicine, and rare diseases policy. All these areas benefit from cross sector working with the academic community, third sector and think thanks to ensure an approach to evidence based policy making in government with a strong focus on the political, ethical, social, legal, technological and environmental implications.
She is also Head of Profession for Scientists and Engineers for DHSC and the UK representative on international committees and Boards, including at European Union level.
Monika is a member of the NIHR Strategy Board.
