Dr Mags Sara is the Director of Infrastructure and Faculty at the NIHR Central Commissioning Facility.
Mags leads the Infrastructure and Faculty team at CCF, which manages the Biomedical Research Centres, Clinical Research Facilities, and Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care/Applied Research Collaborations, as well as various other research investments and schemes.
Mags has over 17 years of research management experience, leading the establishment and implementation of major initiatives. Prior to joining CCF in 2011, she was Head of Centres at Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and had operational responsibility for the CRUK Centres and the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres.
In previous roles at the UK Clinical Research Collaboration and the National Cancer Research Institute, she focused on work to improve the clinical research environment in the UK and accelerating progress in cancer research through collaboration.
Mags has a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Kent. She also has seven years of postdoctoral experience, mostly in cancer research.
