Summary
We support and deliver clinical research studies involving children and young people. This includes:
- controlled trials of new and established medicines for children
- development of screening and prognostic tools, including imaging behavioural interventions
- development and evaluation of health technologies and medical devices
- studies on the origins, monitoring and prevention of disease
- the effect of lifestyle factors such as diet, nutrition and exercise

Professor Paul Dimitri is the Clinical Research Network (CRN) National Specialty Lead for children and young people.
Clinical Studies Groups (CSGs)
As a researcher, you can get expert advice through our CSGs to develop an effective research proposal for your specialty in child health.
Our CSGs include:
- active researchers
- parents
- nurses
- charity representatives
- formulation experts
CSGs can help with:
- focusing ideas and refining the research question
- facilitating patient and parent input
- study design
- feasibility of researching for a study
- linking up with Clinical Trials Units who can help with statistics and trial management
- signposting to funding opportunities and NIHR CRN support
- disseminating research

Through the Clinical Research Network (CRN), you can get help with:
- planning and delivering your research to achieve the greatest impact
- recruiting patients for your study
- costs for your study, if you are eligible. This could include money for extra staff, facilities or equipment
