The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Academy Executive are embarking on a period of exciting growth and this is a new role, joining the Communications, Involvement and Development team. 

This is an exciting time to be joining us as you will have responsibility the delivery of our new suite of face to face and online development and training programmes, working closely with our external suppliers.

You will have significant experience in managing complex projects with a range of high profile stakeholders and will have worked with external suppliers to ensure that programmes are effectively planned, communicated, implemented and evaluated.

Experience and understanding of delivering professional development programmes is essential, alongside highly effective communication skills including report writing and influencing without line authority.

The NIHR is the nation’s largest funder of health and care research and has a mission to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. It does this by: 

  • Funding, supporting and delivering high quality research that benefits the NHS, public health and social care
  • Engaging and involving patients, carers and the public in order to improve the reach, quality and impact of research
  • Attracting, training and supporting the best researchers to tackle the complex health and care challenges of the future

The NIHR Academy plays a pivotal role in attracting, training and supporting the best researchers and complements the additional NIHR investment in world-class research facilities and a skilled research workforce.

The NIHR Academy Executive is hosted by the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) and delivers the work of the NIHR Academy, leading on policy, strategy and delivery in respect of academic training in England and working closely with other NIHR centres and the Science Research and Evidence (SRE) Directorate at the DHSC.
