The Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Programme is seeking to appoint members to its funding committees.
This opportunity is for Healthcare Professionals.
We have several roles where a particular specialism is not required and would welcome applications from any area within the healthcare community. We also have roles that would particularly suit an oncologist, psychiatrist, surgeon, specialists in rehabilitation or multimorbidity, and those undertaking substantial work in a social care setting.
HTA funding committees assess the scientific merit of research proposals submitted to both the commissioned and researcher-led workstreams, including themed calls and evidence synthesis proposals, and makes funding recommendations to the Programme Oversight Committee.
Applicants should have previous experience at a senior level within their area of expertise and have a significant record of research and publication, and/or extensive senior management or clinical experience within the NHS. Applicants should also have previous experience with the HTA Programme, for example through reviewing applications or as a member of a prioritisation committee.
We particularly welcome applications from people with expertise in current NIHR priority areas and those areas that are likely to become priorities for the NHS due to the changing population structure.
The term of office is 4 years starting in late 2020/2021. Travel and expenses will be paid. The committees meet three times a year, usually on a Tuesday and Wednesday; the schedule depends on the particular Funding Committee as follows:
Commissioning Committee: January, May & September
CET & General Committees: March, July & November
The NIHR embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to ensuring our committees represent a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills, and welcome applications from under-represented groups.
