The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Academy Executive are embarking on a period of exciting growth and these are new roles, joining the Evaluation and Impact team. 

This is an exciting time to be joining us as you will lead on defining, analysing and communicating the impact of NIHR Academy investment in research capacity development. Working with the Assistant Director for Evaluation and Impact, you will have responsibility for developing methodology for tracking the career progression and conducting impact assessments of schemes and programmes that form part of the NIHR Academy’s portfolio.

You will have a degree in a social science, health science, mathematics or other relevant research methodology discipline, proven experience of qualitative and/or quantitative research, experience in literature searching and critical appraisal, data analysis and interpretation, demonstrate strong communications skills and work as an effective team member. 

The NIHR is the nation’s largest funder of health and care research and has a mission to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. It does this by: 

  • Funding, supporting and delivering high quality research that benefits the NHS, public health and social care
  • Engaging and involving patients, carers and the public in order to improve the reach, quality and impact of research
  • Attracting, training and supporting the best researchers to tackle the complex health and care challenges of the future
  • Investing in world-class research infrastructure and a skilled research delivery workforce to accelerate translation of discoveries into improved treatments and services

The NIHR Academy plays a pivotal role in attracting, training and supporting the best researchers and complements the additional NIHR investment in world-class research facilities and a skilled research workforce.

The NIHR Academy Executive is hosted by the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) and delivers the work of the NIHR Academy, leading on policy, strategy and delivery in respect of academic training in England and working closely with other NIHR centres and the Science Research and Evidence (SRE) Directorate at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
