The Director of Science, Research and Evidence for the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is looking to select an exceptional person to be the Programme Director of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Services and Delivery Research (HS&DR) Programme, to succeed Professor Jo Rycroft-Malone who comes to the end of her tenure at the end of November 2021.
Senior Marketing and Communications Manager
Salary: up to £45,000

We are looking for a proactive communications professional to work in a diverse communications and marketing role, as part of the NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI). NOCRI works as part of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and is focused on building collaborations across the NIHR’s broad research infrastructure and promoting the NIHR’s innovative research, facilities, services and people to potential partners including the global life sciences industry, charities and other funders.
The NIHR is the nation’s largest funder of health and care research, awarding more than £1 billion a year of research funding from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). Our research programmes, people, centres of excellence and systems together represent the most integrated health research system in the world.
This post is based at LGC’s Grant Management Group (GMG), which manages three important components of the NIHR: the NIHR Central Commissioning Facility (CCF), the NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) and the NIHR Centre for Engagement and Dissemination. NOCRI helps public sector and charity research funders, and the life sciences industry, work in partnership with NIHR infrastructure.
The post holder will be based in London (flexible working can be discussed).
We are looking for a creative and innovative thinker to bring in fresh ideas and improve how we market our “services” and promote our stories.
To be successful in this role, you will have an excellent eye for a story and will have the strong writing abilities to turn complex information into effective news stories, marketing materials and digital content.
You will need proven copywriting and editing skills, preferably news or marketing related in a health, medical or other science context. Prior experience in using audiovisual equipment and creative software to produce engaging multimedia and visual content is strongly desired.
You will need excellent interpersonal skills to establish productive relationships with key external stakeholders, as well as with different NIHR departments, other communications managers, academics and clinicians.
You will have experience developing communication and marketing strategies focused towards various audiences and be able to program manage the various initiatives and projects resulting from it. You will need to be able to work to tight deadlines and maintain excellent communications with the leadership team to effectively manage priorities and delivery risks.
