We are pleased to announce an excellent opportunity has arisen to participate in Programme Grants for Applied Research assessment committees. These prestigious appointments offer senior applied health researchers the chance to take part in and gain experience of making recommendations to NIHR for large scale, high quality programmes of research for the benefit of patients and the NHS.

Senior Programme Officer – NIHR Academy

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Academy Executive are embarking on a period of exciting growth and are looking for an experienced programme officer to join our Infrastructure and Capacity Building Structures team supporting the NIHR Academy Global Health Research (GHR) Training Programme portfolio. As the Senior Programme Officer you will be responsible for supporting the administration of GHR schemes and activities, including communications, processing finances, award data and work to support Global Health activity across the NIHR Academy and wider NIHR.

You will need to have significant experience within an office environment with a high level of interpersonal and communications skills. You must be able to develop good working relationships with a range of internal staff and external stakeholders with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You will also need advanced computer skills in particular in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Proficient in the use of email and Google (G-Suite) applications. Ideally, you should have previous experience of working in an ODA (Official Development Assistance) compliant or global health environment.

The NIHR Academy Executive manages the NIHR Academy on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care and is responsible for development and coordination of NIHR academic training and research capacity development. The NIHR Academy Executive is hosted by the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT).
