The HTA programme is seeking to appoint a leader in the field of health technology assessment or related applied clinical research, to undertake the duties of Chair for one of the NIHR HTA Funding Committees.

Senior Public Involvement Manager

Have you delivered or led public involvement, engagement or participation?

Are you a natural collaborator and influencer with the ability to generate broad ownership of goals and actions which improve systems and practice?

Would you like to make a real difference to how the work of the nation's largest funder of health and care research is shaped with patients, the public and carers?

At the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) we enable and deliver world-class research that transforms people’s lives, promotes economic growth and advances science.

We need an exceptional individual to become a Senior Public Involvement Manager at the new NIHR Centre for Engagement and Dissemination (CED). This is an exciting time to join the Centre, launched in April 2020, which has a remit to provide leadership on, and to coordinate, patient and public involvement, participation and engagement (PIE) in research, and evidence dissemination.

The successful candidate(s) will work alongside other Senior Public Involvement Managers and across the wider team, building partnerships and driving forward significant national work which helps to deliver the ambition of NIHR and its partners for public involvement, participation and engagement (PIE) in health and care research.

The Senior Public Involvement Manager(s) will work with a range of invested stakeholders inside and outside NIHR (including public, patients, researchers, PIE leads, NHS England, research charities, industry and health regulators), to shape or deliver initiatives and services which deepen and broaden the range of people shaping research, drive good practice and align priorities and effort across the health and care research system. They will also contribute to the development of future policy and strategy.

The NIHR Centre for Engagement and Dissemination is hosted by LGC Group, you can find out more about LGC’s governance here

This role is based at the NIHR Central Commissioning Facility in Twickenham, which is hosted by LGC's Grant Management Group, under a contract with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

Job Purpose

The Senior Public Involvement Manager will contribute to strategy, and will lead, facilitate and deliver agreed goals, working across the CED, NIHR and with external stakeholders, enabling and supporting NIHR and partners to advance and improve public:
