The NIHR Clinical Lectureship (CL) is a postdoctoral award that provides a clinical and academic training environment for dentists to establish themselves as independent researchers and leaders. The NIHR has allocated funding for 11 CLs for recruitment in 2024/25, through the Integrated Academic Training (IAT) Programme.
As an NIHR CL you will spend 50% of your time in research or educationalist training. Full details, including the eligibility criteria for the NIHR CL, are available in the 2024 Clinical Lectureships (Dental) Guidance Document.
The 2024 CLs are available from 2 October 2023, with award starting dates between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025.
Candidates for NIHR CLs apply via the online application system Oriel, not to the NIHR. Some CL posts may be advertised by the dental school within the IAT partnership. Please use the dentistry academic contacts if you wish to discuss a potential application with a particular partnership.
