Welcome and Introductions
Professor Ibidun Adelekan (Co-Chair) officially welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked them for serving on the RIGHT Committee. The Committee introduced themselves.
Background and Scope of RIGHT Call 5
Ms Stephanie Russell gave an overview of DHSC’s global health research portfolio and Dr Nicola Commander summarised remit, scope of the call and the call assessment criteria (see slides). The Committee was shown a short video on Unconscious Bias produced by the Royal Society.
Purpose of the meeting and process for assessing applications
Professor Joseph Jarvis (Co-Chair) informed the Committee about the process for accessing the applications and the purpose of the meeting (i.e. to make funding recommendations to DHSC), followed by a demonstration of the voting system by the Global Health Secretariat (Mr Simon Saunders) (see slides). All the global health generalists and subject matter expert Committee Members scored all the applications, unless they were conflicted or absent. Two Community Engagement and Involvement Committee Members scored each application.
