Published: 01 October 2019

Chief Medical Officer, Professor Dame Sally Davies joined heads of state, political and health leaders, policy-makers and universal health coverage (UHC) champions at the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting to discuss universal health coverage and advocate for health for all.

Chief Medical Officer, Professor Dame Sally Davies said:

“I am pleased to announce a £12m funding call from the NIHR Global Health Research programme, which will support the next generation of health policy and systems research collaboration. Partnerships between researchers in low and middle-income countries and the UK will produce high quality, relevant research, supporting the achievement of UHC ambitions.”

Universal health coverage (UHC) means that all people have access to the health care they need, when and where they need it, without facing financial hardship.
