Dr Angela Darekar
Dr Angela Darekar is the Lead for MRI Physics and Trust MR Safety Expert at University Hospital Southampton (UHS). She has worked at UHS since 1998, joining after completing her NHS Clinical Scientist training at King’s College Hospital. Angela is also the CRN Wessex Local Imaging Champion and leads the NIHR Imaging Research Delivery Group, a subgroup of the NIHR Imaging Group.
She was awarded her PhD (in advanced neuro MRI techniques) from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton in 2010. Angela has extensive experience in encouraging and facilitating the use of MRI techniques to answer clinical research questions, working in collaboration with academics and clinical colleagues to do this. Her role includes supporting both the clinical MRI service (service development, QA and MRI safety), and working on research projects utilising MRI, both within the NHS and University of Southampton.
