Dr David King
Dr David King is an Executive Director at the NIHR Coordinating Centre.
David manages funding for research programmes and infrastructure for the NIHR and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
He was previously a member of the then Department of Health’s R&D Directorate, where he worked on the implementation of a number of NIHR funding schemes. These included Biomedical Research Centres, the School for Primary Care Research, the former Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRCs) and Programme Grants for Applied Research.
Prior to that, David was the R&D Manager at the then North West London Hospitals NHS Trust for five years. He also spent eleven years at the Medical Research Council's Head Office, including one year on secondment at Wellcome.
