Professor Tracy Roberts

Professor Roberts is Chair of NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research subcommittee A.

Tracy is Professor of Health Economics at the Institute of Applied Health Research, University of Birmingham and Honorary Professor in the Research Institute for Primary Care and Health Sciences, University of Keele.

Initially, Tracy trained as a nurse at Bart’s Hospital, and worked as a Trauma Orthopaedics staff nurse at Homerton Hospital in Hackney. She graduated in health economics at UCL in 1990, and went on to gain an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford in 1992. Following a series of research positions in Oxford, Tracy joined the University of Birmingham as a lecturer in Health Economics in 1998, obtaining her PhD in 2008.

She was appointed to her Chair in 2009 and became Head of the Health Economics Unit in 2012.
